Alcohol Abuse
Education plays a considerable task in boosting the vigour and safety amongst the adolescence. This goes a long way in impacting lifetime healthy routine. This is because learning institutions offer opportunities where students learn about unhealthy habits while encouraging them embrace healthy lifestyles. Unhealthy behaviours are highly avertable. It is worth noting that unhealthy habits begin at babyhood and prevail to later life. Thus, behaviours those are likely to affect the wellbeing of the child to be dealt with at an early stage. Such behaviours include utilization of alcohol along with erstwhile prescription abuse forms.
The students I spoke to agreed that the exploitation of alcohol and erstwhile drugs facade a big challenge to schools. Student who do not support the consumption of alcohol argue that alcohol may cause severe healthiness complications in body organs like the brain. In addition, alcoholism interferes with emotional stability, careers aspirations, family as well as relationships in schools. Moreover, students who engage in taking alcohol may end missing lessons, doing poorly in classes and getting low grades in schools. In extreme cases, students spoil property. This is because they are not able to make sound decisions when they are drunk.
A student who has tried drugs has the latent to keep on taking that meticulous drug. Drugs have the capacity to influence the intellect differently. Alcohol consumption leads to discharge of Dopamine which controls pressure and pleasure. The student who wants to experience the rewards released by dopamine as opposed to natural rewards will repeatedly consume the drug. This pushes an individual to hold on to deeds that will lead to the feeling.
More woman learners than male scholars consume alcohol. Out of the 63.2% who drank alcohol; at least one day in their lifetime; 65.3% were female students with a 61.4% being male students. Students felt that there are many reasons that pushed them to take alcohol. These include the desire to experience something new, attempts to do better in school, uncomplicated peer pressure, taking risks as well as the needs to shape their own identities. Despite the fact that attempting to utilize drugs may grasp the usual developmental curves; abuse of alcohol has disastrous long-term effects on the user.
Numerous students had used the drug on one occasion. 44.1% acquired the alcohol they swallowed from somebody who gave it to them. On the contrary, a group of learners were profound alcohol consumers. Heavy consumption of alcohol among senior students 17.7% admitted that they took more than five drinks of alcohol in a row with 4.3 saying that the highest number of drinks they ever had in a row was 10 or more. This proves that some scholars are enthusiastic with alcohol. This may unconstructively shape their lifestyles. The learners said they at times drink and steer. This happens mostly when they have friends who drink.
Many students agreed that it all begins with the “Try it” feelings. This happens during events like birthday parties and other activities. The students felt that they needed to maximize on their adolescent year. To them, this is a period of adventure, sensation seeking, and venturing into fresh challenges. Thus they drunk to experiment and enjoy good times. The acceptability or unacceptability of abusing the drugs depends on an individual. Many of the she student consumed alcohol together with other drugs. These drugs include Marijuana, cigarette and Cocaine.
