The Significance of Context
According to Tsui (2015), A well-phrased context is of vital importance for communication and language use. When relating with colleagues, a topic may arise. One requires understanding the agenda and the theme before contributing. A well-framed context will increase the ability to conduct critical thinking and make it easy for colleagues to reason together. When the discussion topic is ambiguous, the meaning may not be clear, and thus most people are likely to argue outside the topic.
Critical thinking errors result from poor judgment. This automatically lead to shallow conclusions regarding a subject and the entire discussion may be flawed. Ethnocentricity is a bad attitude in critical analysis. The leader tends to hold to the belief that he is perfect and takes everything as simple. In case one makes a mistake he can never own it hence the inability to learn from mistakes (Hall,2014).
Resistance to change is a natural behaviour that comes from fear and insecurity. It results in stifled creativity, fair judgment and finally to misunderstanding the concept in hand. A man is a social animal and desires to conform to what others are doing or thinking. This denies him mental independence which is necessary for comprehending a context.
Stereotyping is a public opinion that generalizes a particular behaviour to the entire population. In the legal profession, most clients hold to the belief that the primary motivating factor for a lawyer is the legal fee he charges. This means that with little money it ‘s hard to get justice. The public argues by rationalization instead of realism hence another cause of biases in context. To improve reasoning skills one should engage in activities requiring critical thinking through trying new things (Doctorow & Reilly,2011). Physical exercise makes the brain active ready for conceptualization. Playing games that require high reasoning skills helps in developing the analytical capability.
