How to Use a Billion Dollars from Inheritance
If I would inherit one billion dollars, I would buy an island for refuges to live in. In this island, I would build schools, hospitals and anything that refugees would require to live well. Besides doing this, I would create jobs for the refugees and make an economy for them. After doing all that I could to improve the lives of the refugees, I would settle down in the island to live together with the refugees as their mentor. Any refugee from whichever part of the world would be welcome to settle on the island.
My decision to use the one billion this way has been informed by what is currently going on between North Africa and Europe and in other parts of the world. In North Africa, majority of African people lose their lives while trying to cross over to Europe. Majority of these people come from Libya. Others come from neighboring countries, but they are few. A similar incidence is witnessed in the Australian sea. In the Australian sea, refugees also lose their lives while crossing over to Australia. Majority of the refugees that lose their lives here come from neighboring countries. Others come from as far as Middle East. In Kenya, Somali refugees equally suffer. They do not know when they will go back to their motherland. Refugees also suffer in Europe. They face injustice wherever they go because majority of the countries do not welcome them.
Inasmuch as I condemn economic immigration, which comes along with refugee issue, I hate to see people suffer. I do not say that people should not suffer because suffering is part of life, but I do not understand why I should enjoy huge sum of money alone while other people suffer. I strongly believe that helping the refugees to settle down would be a good thing for me. Therefore, I would do it because I love it.
