Mass Production

Mass production, also known as continuous or flow production, involves the manufacture large quantities of standardized products utilizing assembly line technology. It is characterized by a careful control of quality standards, division of labor to accomplish high volume, and well-organized flow of materials. This technique reduces the amount of time that workers spend on individual products, which allows the manufacturers to lower the cost per unit and increase the quantity and quality of goods or service. Mass production is employed to different products such as Model T automobile from Ford Motor Company based on the moving belt assembly line in which each worker was assigned a specific task to do. This made the automobile take shape more quickly from section to section saving man-hours. Manufacture of inks and paints is also an example of mass production in which a manufacturer uses a color-run.


Customization is a marketing method in which businesses attempt to customize their advertisement message to meet the unique needs and wants of the specifically targeted customers through changing products to meet their tastes or fit their needs. Customization aims to increase customer satisfaction by adapting the company’s products to local needs.  Examples of products that can be customized include modular shoes which are customized according to customer’s color and stud. Customized Bicycle Bells tunes which allows cyclist to modify their own bike bell sounds is also an example of customized products.

Mass Customization

Mass customization deals with making changes such as flavors or colors or ultimately developing new products that meet individual customer wants and needs. It is associated with high product sales and customer satisfaction, which improves a company’s sales and, hence reputation. Moreover, it targets mass customers rather than a single client. Mass customization instances that various corporations employ include software-based product formations that permit end users to take away or increase various functionalities in accordance with to their needs. MacBook, which is an example of a software-based product, is available in various RAM sizes and hard disc capacities to provide users with exactly they want.
