Philosophy Case Study on Qatar 2022 World Cup

Qatar 2022 World Cup

Should countries boycott the 2022 World Cup?

The countries set to participate in the 2022 tournament should,in my opinion, boycott it. This is with regard to Qatar’s tournament preparation which has been associated with several negative issues especially concerning employee working conditions. Workers face the issue of poor wages associated with delays, lack of safety clothing, and poor working conditions associated with diseases such as asthma. If at all countries have a sense of humanity, they should boycott the 2022 World Cup to show their condolences and concern for the lives lost during the construction of the fields. The countries should show their citizens that they care for their lives. This can make the organizers realize that the life of  a person is more important than a game.

Should TV networks refuse to broadcast  the World Cup?

The tournament will definitely require both stadia and television audiences and TVbroadcasters will be the ones to bring matches live to the audiences.Without them, the tournament will be almost impossible or rather useless. The TVnetworks should as well boycott the tournament coverage to show their concern for the poor and their displeasure about the cruel treatment of the stadium workers that cost a lot of lives. Here, networks and the media in general have the responsibility to protect the human rights ofthe  people.

Should TV watchers boycott the World Cup?

TV watchers give the biggest audience to the world cup tournaments; hence, to denounce all the ills associated with the preparation of the games, fans should boycott the 2022 World Cup. This is the only way for the fans to show their concern for the 1000 or more lives of workers that have died in stadia building. By so doing, the World Cup Organisers would realize that the lives, and health  and safety  of people are more important  than that event which without the support of the people cannot take place.
