The Animal Feed Science and Technology is a journal that was written by F.P O’Mara under the title “The Significance of Livestock as a Contributor to Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions, today and in the Near Future.” This journal was published by the Irish Agricultural and Food Development Authority in 2011. Its headquarters is in Oak Park. According to this author, agricultural activities contribute 8 to 10% of the emitted greenhouse gasses globally because of animal keeping. Livestock contributes a minimum of 18% of this amount of greenhouse gasses.
Regions and continents that such high amounts of greenhouse gases affect include Western Europe, Latin America, North America and Africa. The assertion of the author is that food production is affected by the emitted greenhouse 
gases especially those from cattle keeping. In this case, food production refers to milk and meat production. Among the hardly affected regions include non-EU nations, Eastern and Western Europe, North America and Soviet Union. Africa, Latin America and Asia are the most affected regions in terms of reduction in food production.
This author notes that emission of these gases is likely to increase because of livestock keeping. This is because the global population is increasing and this increases food demands. Though the rate of increase of greenhouse gasses emission was estimated to be about 30% by 2020, this author asserts that there are mitigation procedures that can be implemented with the use of the latest technologies to lower this rate.
The author notes that these procedures can be efficient and cost-effective in curbing greenhouse gases emissions.
