Ford Motor Company was established in 1903, in Detroit, Michigan. Founded by Henry Ford, the company has waded off stiff competition from General Motor to become the fourth best car manufacturing brand in 2019. The company is founded on strong ethical values that have made it overcome all its corporate challenges. Despite facing series of ethical issues in the past, Ford has demonstrated resilience and proven to be one of the most ethical companies in the world. Additionally, Ford’s corporate social responsibility initiatives are structured to respond to the demands and interest all of its stakeholders. The impacts of the company to its stakeholders revolve around its myriad business activities. Similarly, the stakeholders also support the company through purchases and support. This paper evaluates how Ford addresses the needs of its stakeholders to maintain its position in the car manufacturing industry.


Ford comprehensively addresses the concerns and demand of its stakeholders through varied initiatives and programs. The stakeholders include customers, employees, investors, and communities. As a leader within the company, I believe customers should be given the highest priority as they are significant in the company’s growth because they determine revenue. Thus, the interest of customers has depended on the products and services offered. Through their innovative automobiles, Ford has insisted on quality products, fuel efficient and comprehensive safety to maximize customer satisfaction. Its cars have consistently received positive rating and endorsement from the United States New Car Assessment Program (Durbin & Krisher, 2011).  Moreover, Ford has enhanced its efforts through Smart Mobility initiatives to improve mobility of their driverless cars. As a leader, I applaud the company’s Driving Skills for Life program that provides training to amateur drivers to nurture their driving skills to become efficient drivers.

Employees have not been left behind by the company. As a manager, I find it ethical the way Ford has reformed its work safety policies. Ford has been in the forefront in complying with regulatory requirements relating to employee welfare.  Through its sustainable workforce initiatives, Ford has improved the health of its employees’ health, efficiency and work productivity (Dearborn, 2017). In addition, through its global learning and development strategies, Ford has offered onsite and offsite training and education to enhance skills of its workers. Besides, the company is consistently nurturing skills of their managers through its global leadership summits. Consequently, investors enjoy huge return because of Ford’s strong ethical values and comprehensive corporate social responsibility. The implementation of One Ford plan has been instrumental in achieving steadiness and synergy in its global operations. This initiative has managed investor expectations by generating profits and avoiding bankruptcy. The One Ford plan is still evolving as the organization strives to implement lean manufacturing and efficient operations.

Ford Motor Company has a binding corporate social responsibility with communities and suppliers. As a manager, I recognize the value of suppliers and community members to the success of Ford. Hence, I applaud the efforts of Ford towards promoting supplier sustainability through its environmental impact policy. Moreover, through the company’s philanthropic mindset, I have witnessed the company support communities through irrigation and education plans in remote areas. Meanwhile, Ford continues to reach the community through its volunteer corps consisting of employees to implement projects meant to support development.


Ford has done well in promoting ethics and corporate social responsibility in managing stakeholder relationships. The strong ethical values and corporate reasonability initiatives have attracted the attention of Ethisphere that has continually honored Ford in its most ethical companies list. The recognition is based on roles the companies play in society to drive positive transformations. Fundamentally, the most ethical companies, Ford included, consider the welfare of its employees, investors, customers, and communities. In my view, ethical companies like Ford have elaborate responses to address social expectations, adherence to regulations and sustaining geopolitical environment.
