The prosperity of a company mainly depends on practices performed within the enterprise and in the market. The organization structure is essential as it promotes organization culture and increases the performance of the enterprise. Apple Inc. is the most ranked IT company in the world that specializes in computers, tablets, phones, TV, watches, iPods, IT services, and software (Tasim 36). According to Miller & Maxwell (383), the company started in 1976 as a computer and Software Company, but later in 2007, it included smartphones, iPads, and other IT services. Apple’s revenue has increased from 2006 (Tasim 38). Their mechanistic- organic structural design has majorly facilitated their revenue growth.

According to Khan, M. Alam, & S. Alam (957), Apple Inc. has a rigid departmentalization made up of fifteen departments, each headed by a manager who is responsible for all-day operations, assign duties, and ensure the tasks are performed as expected. The managers of the departments in Apple directly involve their employees in the decision-making process of the company, which accounts for the success of the company (Khan, M. Alam, & S. Alam 959). Managers come up with goals and design strategies to achieve the goals of their department, motivate and direct team members, and keep in check the performance of their departments.

According to Miller & Maxwell (385), Apple Inc. is controlled through a chain of command where power flows from the top to bottom with the CEO (Tim Cook) as the head. The company has firm procedures and rules with centralized management. Employees work based on their expertise and skills, which account for their unique high-valued products and services that fetch a high market value. With over 80,000 employees worldwide, Apple Inc. remains tight and rigidly controlled (Miller & Maxwell 388). The structure of Apple has enhanced teamwork assimilated with proper collaboration and coordination. The flow of information between the employees has enabled managers to perform their operations in line with the company’s objectives and goals.
