Sample English Essays on The Selfless Gene

The selfless nature of human was seen in men when the Royal Navy troopship Birkenhead was about to capsize miles away from the shore. These people risked their lives because of people they did not know by putting women and children in lifeboats while they swam across the ocean. This clearly showed how old people could be willing to sacrifice for the sake of the younger generation. The idea of natural selection did apply in this scenario too. This occurred when men decided to swim since the only those who could swim faster were able to survive and evade many threats that were there in the ocean. Only the strong in the mind and body were able to stay alive. Moreover, the forces of environment favored them.

Most biologists believe in the theory of natural selection that was put forth by Charles Darwin. It is believed that forces of the environment guided the manner in which we became humans and other living forms became what they are today. This happened through a revolution where only the fittest could survive. The act of becoming a conscious human being is believed to have come from the aftermaths of wars that occurred between neighbors that lived in pre-historic times. People or animals of a kind realized that the best way they could ensure the prosperity of their generation was by ensuring their safety. With this, priority was always given to the children who were torch bearers of the next generation and the women who had the ability to give birth. The writer has taken a position of believing in natural selection. His stand is quite promising since he acknowledges the ability of people to adjust to the conditions around them.
