The Culturally Conscious Scholar-Practitioner: Connecting the Dots

As a scholar, the knowledge on cultural intelligence has enabled me to adapt to different cultural background. In business, cultural intelligence is very vital in that it assist the scholar in creating awareness through the provision of products that are cultural based. There is a high level of innovation and creativity that a country or a business can benefit from its cultural diversity. The lesson that I learnt on cultural intelligence includes; management, intercultural interactions and the importance of cultural intelligence model.

Management innovation and creativity that a country or a business can benefit from its cultural diversity

As a leader, I will have to work with people from different cultures. The cultural diversity has its own advantages in that the practice of culture enhances the community cohesion. This is usually attained in cultural music and dances. For the leaders, the knowledge of cultural intelligence is vital in that, they are able to treat people from different cultures equally (Bazelon, 2013). A leader must also acknowledge the contribution of every individual to the development of the entire institution irrespective of the cultural background.

Intercultural Interactions

The knowledge of cultural intelligence is vital in building relationship between the different communalities. Communication is one of the strategies that assist one in making the right decision. In school I can relate well to my fellow student since I am able to appreciate their cultures.

Cultural Intelligence Model

According to the intelligent model, an individual is supposed to first inquire, build, contemplate and then act on a matter. An intelligent scholar is able to exhibit some level of flexibility when it comes to the understanding of a culture mainly attained through the interaction between people from different cultures (Ruiz-Vieytez, 2014). One of the students from my community was fighting another student. I was forced to punish the student from my community since he was wrong.

Conclusion

The knowledge gained is vital to create cultural awareness where other people are able appreciate other peoples beliefs and practices and thus enabling people from different cultural backgrounds to live harmoniously. Cultural intelligence creates a sense of ownership and pride.
