The current outpour of digital platforms has spurred innovation among workers and other skilled professionals. Not only has it impacted greatly on the work force, it has brought tremendous changes to the schooling fraternity, with people using these platforms to accomplish some of their tasks. This has led to the emergence of virtual teams who are utilizing the concept of shared workgroup in order to accomplish some specific given tasks. The digital portals are hosted on the cloud and sometimes use a technology known as cloud computing. Cloud computing is a concept in which resources are virtualized and provided as services over the internet infrastructure (Furht & Escalente, 2010).

These digital platforms utilize the cloud technology, where certain spaces are designed and can be accessed by workers in dispersed locations in order to accomplish some tasks. The concept of shared work group also borrows the same from the cloud technology, where these platforms are hosted but accessible through the internet infrastructure. This technology also enables people to access and utilize knowledge based information systems and tools that are useful in different fields such as math, project management and scheduling. The concept is widely used by skilled people who access such platform to share a workspace such as software for drawing.

The concept presents a lot of benefits, but also is problematic though presents a brighter future to come. There are several benefits in terms of cost benefit, where users do not need to purchase since most need registration where one becomes a member and later can have unlimited access to these resources. On the other hand, such platforms, the shared work group present a myriad of advantages to the working class, who apply the concept of teamwork in order to complete specific tasks within a set of time. Apart from the shared work group being cheaper and being able to support teamwork, these platforms also enable teams and other employees to be

effective in order to improve work performance (Souppaya et al, 2008). This is due to the capability of such platforms to support knowledge by providing a platform to support workers and teams working to accomplish specific tasks (Andersen & Qvortrup, 2004). Despite the numerous advantages of these tools, most people access them for a limited and controlled access due to their status, either as guests or on free trial, however the same gives individuals full access. In full access, there are numerous capabilities that come with such privileges. The privileges range from getting access to user manual, online support groups and other useful resources, which have the potential of assisting end-users on using these workgroup tools.

These workgroup tools present a myriad of advantages, with benefits that cannot be counted. While their benefits are countless, these tools are shaping the digital platform, and work ethics in a manner never seen before. This occurs in work scheduling where teams work together to accomplish some specific tasks, where their locations are in remote places (Steinke & Network Magazine, 2003). Despite the advantages, these workgroup tools also have shortfalls, in a way that manuals have to be read in order to understand how to use the tools in the online platform.

These tools are beneficial in the current modern workplace. This is because they are useful as they support collaborative work. The future is bright due to the capabilities these tools present, with almost every work being in the cloud. It is imperative that modern workplaces embrace such a modern technology in order to encourage competitiveness and to achieve the overall work throughput.
