Our health, well-being and happiness is affected by one of the single most important factor, friendship. It is costly to create and maintain friedship since it requires investment. To analyze the concept of free will and friendship, introducing the brain decoding process is not a choice. Abstruct decisions can be decoded from the medial frontpolar cortex but these happen where there is a delayed period of execution. Besides, unconscious formation of voluntary intentions may take place. The results of the study by soon et al. reveals that conscious abstract decisions are made by involving the medial frontpolar cortex. This shows that friendship may form at will or subconsciously through the uncounscious formation of voluntary actions. Freely a person may decide to pursue a friendship, however, unconscious bond may form and as a result friendship may be form.
Friendship needs time to be nurtured. The need to bond is a social necessity for every human being. However, some forces control the impact of friendship and social relationships. Time is one of the factors that limit the bonding process. However, at will, a person can choose to prioritize on bonding and strengthening friendship. With time in friendship, the people involved in association become so acquainted with each other such that it becomes hard for them to forget each other. The cognitive awareness of each other translates to fulfilling the needs of each other.
Friendship decay when the cognitive image about the other person is destroyed. When the cognitive perception of the other person is distorted by ill-treatment and bad behaviour, the person decides to quit the friendship at will. A friendship may also end when there is no sufficient time to interact with each other. If people don’t meet, because of the absence of the social investment, friendship melts away. Maintain friendship for a more extended period, requires substantial emotional investment.
