Recent history has challenged the perception that Metis equals violent Rebellion. Drawing on course materials, readings and lectures students will write a reflection paper on the following question:
What are the key factors leading to the emergence of the Metis as a distinctive historical identity? What are the implications of the shift away from a history of that is centred on rebellion/resistence? How does diplomacy and alliance building help us understand the emergence of the Métis as a community? What are some of the implications of this shift and do you think that resistance is necessary to understand the emergence of the Métis as a people?
You must properly cite your course materials using Chicago Manual of Style, MLA or APA referencing system.
Length: 1500–2000 words.
Format the paper with double-spaced lines and paragraphs clearly indicated with a indent
