LinkedIn is a social site for professionals with the purpose of making reliable connections. It helps to expand relationships between different business people and partners in society. The registration process of a LinkedIn account takes less than 2 minutes. In order to register search for LinkedIn via www.linkedin.com, click on the various options especially at the top of the page. This allows for the sign-up process that involves writing your name, email, and password. After filling in the details, click on the “Join LinkedIn Today” on the right-hand side of the computer screen. The next step involves confirmation of the account through the email address. Confirmation of the email provides the validity for using the account (Carter, 2012).

In addition, it allows for editing of the profile. In editing the profile, a person is required to have high technical knowledge in order to fill the various subheadings. These include industry names and editing of the profile picture. The filling of the profile picture and the industry details creates a clear picture of the person as a professional. Editing of the qualification is also done in the process. Qualification involves current and past employment details and educational background. The details to be filled in must contain the past job and academic qualifications. This provides a clear understanding of the persons that are relevant for job referrals. The section is short but informative. This seeks to indicate the job profile and qualifications of the persons in the industry.

The creation process of the LinkedIn Account allows the professional to provide a summary of their personality and life. The summary seeks to provide more details on personal strengths and weaknesses. It offers a relevant analysis of the professional job experience and the number of years served. After the summary, one is allowed to add specialties. The specialties are an extension of the summary part, but it lists the particular skills and expertise of the people. Writing of the connections of people, you may know in done. This involves searching for probable friends and colleagues. The search can be done by job title, company name, or a person’s name. Websites are also added to the profile. The websites include blogs or Twitter accounts. This allows visitors to obtain a different perspective of the person. In completing the creation of the LinkedIn account, one is allowed to add applications. Although the application is not necessary, they make the profile complete. The main issues encountered were the difficulty in filling in all the information and data. In addition, the LinkedIn account does not allow effective interactions of the professionals. Currently, the privacy setting of my account on the right hand of the home page is listed as public. Public privacy setting allows different professionals to view the profile. The public privacy setting allows many visitors to view my qualifications and information. This assists in networking and creating new connections with different professionals in the same industry. However, the issues of putting photos on the profile affect the privacy of the LinkedIn account. It is my option to set my LinkedIn account public. Therefore, the LinkedIn account provides clear privacy and security options for personal selection.
