Counseling and Healthcare Interview

The observation skill comes first in understanding an interviewee and establishing a connection with the interviewee. As an interviewer stars an interview, there are a number of ques that he or she has to consider in ensuring that the interviewee is comfortable and open to enable them to offer direct and accurate responses (Evans, Hearn, Uhlemann, & Ivey, 2017).

The second skill that comes after observation is questioning, which is based on the ability of the interviewer to develop and arrange the information being researched. All the questions that are asked have to be arranged in a manner that allows the interviewee understand the prompt and follow the lead of the interviewer. This helps ensure chronologic arrangement of the information and information collected from the participants in the study.

The third expertise is listening, which applies to both the interviewer and the interviewee. All the prompts posed to the interviewee have to be understood well before a response is given. On the other hand, the interviewer also has to pay attention to the information being offered by the participant as a way to ensure that the notes taken during the interview process reflect the accurate information presented during the session (Cole & Bird, 2013).

The fourth expertise is responding, which applies both to the interviewer and the interviewee. This is a form of participation that enables both the interviewer and the interviewee felt as part of the process and involved in the final outcomes or goals.

The fifth expertise is informing, which varied depending on the approach is considered by the interviewer. After the evaluation and analysis of the information collected from the participants, the interviewer then develops a conclusion that also defines their perception about the research question. The targeted audiences are then provided with the information related to the research as a way to enlighten them on the facts derived from the research process.
