Introduction.
The film; The Devil Wears Prada is a clip that rotates around three women and depicts their power in assigned duties at work, friendship and love in difficult and more frequently inconsistent standpoints. The analysis of powers contained in the female shows that they tend to utilize their strengths in advancing careers of other women in the society. They are also depicted with good personalities that make them survive in the male-dominated society (Thompson & Anne, 2016). Despite being prosperous in their jobs, their friendships and love affairs with other people suffer a lot. The movie outweighs the stereotypes that women cannot succeed professionally and in their which is represented in the modern society.
Various themes and styles have been shown in the context through the multiple characters in the play. Among them is that which represents power among people in the society, different personalities as displayed by different actors and above all a motivating spirit that tend to drive younger generation into people of great importance to their communities. Each is represented with his or her characters that help the viewers to define the individual clearly. A look at these features in the clip help to understand it better with sufficient knowledge capturing at the end.
The personality of the characters in the film.
The Devil Wears Prada shows the dualism of women in the community. It is supported that the two women’s characters; Andrea and Miranda, is a symbolism of bi-societal models of women’s power and glory. Miranda demands power from the society, and she takes no fear of becoming successful in the end. She is a woman who is very smart and intelligent and believes she will get what she wants at any cost. This a genuine personality of a modern woman who takes nothing for granted. They are ready to face persecution for the sake of their demands. Miranda and Andrea both are depicted as desperate in power. Miranda’s personality shows a strong woman who wants to take on the verge of leadership and power which she can use to make the less fortunate women in the society rise and realize and face their destinies. Miranda is presented in the scene where she was almost losing her job of editing to a younger girl named Jacqueline. She fights back to the chairman of Herve Publications; Clarke Elias and gets her job back in place. This again depicts her strong personality in fighting hard to defend her interests at work, a character that not all women possess (Thompson & Anne, 2016).
Andrea, on the other hand, acts to represent the challenges and struggles that women have to face to become superior in the society. She is encountered with two choices both for which a tough decision has to be made before. She needs to prosper in her life through gaining power but at the same afraid of appealing for recognition and control (Thompson & Anne, 2016). She considers the love from the society and wants every individual to like her characters and behaviours. The characteristics and the personality incorporated into Andrea shows an incomplete woman in the community who is presented with a dilemma for which she fails to employ the use of critical thinking and decision making in evaluating things as they unfold in life.
Another aspect of personality is shown in Miranda who is conceived as being a devil. This shows how bad the character of Miranda was with other people in their office. She decides to get immersed into fashion until forgetting other aspects of life like relationship and failing to meet the requirements of other people in her life. This personality shows how women become blinded when they get an achievement or promotion or when they acquire something new in their life. They are carried away with new things until they end up forgetting their vital roles in the society. Andrea also comes to her senses at the end which is the excellent reflection of other women in the contemporary society. The view presented in the movie reveals that women like Miranda should not have to be pretty helpful when given power or promotion into doing something. They should, therefore, be allowed small achievement should that be the case. In other ways, the analysis also reveals that women in the society tend to be shy in the process of expressing their powers since they want to be considered excellent by others. The above ideas depict the constant story or narrative or the society and also reveal a secondary story within the community or the nation. They can, therefore, be used to strengthen the current behaviours or be used as the role model in teaching the young females in the society who are in need of proper direction. With their capacities to define, discount and depict the media acts as the strong gender agents.
Motivation contained in the film.
From the teachings and the values captured from the above film; The Devil Wears Prada, younger people in the society including male and females can learn few aspects from them. The various characters employed in the film can be used to motivate the entire generation though instilling the concepts into their minds. Women in the society are considered to be the less fortunate regarding various aspects in life. The representation of the characters in the movies is essential in providing a lesson to the younger generation to come. The personality, features and figures contained in can be a good motive in instilling into the mind of the younger women who aspire to be leaders in future. They can learn how to face every challenge with the courage to help then maneuver through various problems. Miranda acts in a way that makes every woman feels she can make while handling stressful situations in life. They all become motivated in life thus grow up to hold difficult places in life.
Miranda acts fearlessly in the entire clip. She takes nothing for granted and fights hard against others in the working place to remain in her position at all times. This character can be emulated by other students and people in the society. She represents a woman with strong characters and abilities in her entire life which can be followed by other younger women in the coming generation through viewing the clip. She motivates other women who feel low in their actions. The characters represent a real person who is ready to take a position at any cost and regardless of the situations and conditions applied in the scenario.
Andrea has been seen with a personality that represents an actual woman in the society. She acts to be the voice of other women in the community by serving them to the best of her capacity. Despite all these, she is seen as having abandoned all things in her life and focus more on her career. This makes her lose support from the entire group of people surrounding her including her own family, friends and her boyfriend. Her characters and personality can still motivate women as being blinded by whatever they handle at their place. They tend to turn their backs in various events and decide to concentrate on their current game of things as they unfold.
Power and glory in the film.
According to Blackmon et al (2017), the whole of The Devil Wears Prada revolves around three women representing various personalities and their verge for power. The story is carried along with people who are in need of power especially women in their generation. The three women are fighting hard in their careers to be in a position that everybody would look at them as being pretty and cute.
Miranda is depicted as the power feminist. She has been used to cast out a secondary account of female and power. It not a bad idea to grant women with power and its consumption according to the film beliefs. Female individuals can be seen as a capable agent of authority (Blackmon & Michael, 2017). They are considered as being the first creatures in any situation and environment and do not have to be much pretty for them to consume their authorities become successful. They fight for power while in return comes to assist the unlucky women in the society and help strengthen then in many ways. They construct a power network that is effective in the entire generation which shows a more profound message being inclined in the movie. Women have been seen using their powers comfortably and effectively throughout the film. The roles and responsibilities of the strong women in the society have been transformed through the rhetoric manner in the movie with Miranda acting like the role model for the entire generation of women in the community. Wanting authority is right. It is right to consume power sufficiently and effectively. It is right to use one’s influence to advance their careers. It is again right to use energy in promoting other female characters in the future careers (Thompson & Anne, 2016).
Andrea is depicted and portrayed as the outcome of a patriarchal community and has fought hard to become their voice in public. She is cast to represent the leading narrative of female and power in the entire society. Since she is portrayed with little power, Andrea’s characters still are used to engulf the whole force of the expectations of the organization for how female with authority should be considered and viewed despite having a weak connection with the people she believes in including her female friends, boyfriend. She is initiating and investing on her careers with lack of support from her primary network but instead accuses her of having chosen her careers to be the best option and forgetting other people around her including her own family (Paulson & Michael, 2017). Unfortunately, it is just a unique way for younger female initiating their career choice or for the sake of any other woman in the society despite their ages. The division has something to work on females having put themselves first before anything else, for this case commencing on her career and have her foot in the doorstep. Female characters are required to obey their parents and do according to their wills and be there when needed for support towards the wishes posted by their friends and lovers, and above all, they should not be varied from the other women in the community. Andrea, later on, admits to her lover as having turned back on everything she believes in including the females in her life (Blackmon & Michael, 2017).
Four accounts have been drawn from the film of the Devil Wears Prada to illustrate the exercise of power in the character of Andrea and Miranda. Miranda is seen as supportive towards Andrea’s choice of career and struggles to avoid her losing her job when she walked away from Paris. Miranda commanded the editor at the publication to hire Andrea or else he is termed as being an idiot. The newspaper editor is convinced with the personality of Andrea and admits to her to be a good woman having done something right. This shows how powerful Miranda was and that it is through her words that Andrea secures a chance.
Throughout the film, women are seen as having different characters and personalities which help them survive in the contemporary society which is a male-dominated one. According to Wickman et al (2016), the film cast out and targeted a variety of audience. Other viewers could support Andrea’s decisions of moving away from Miranda’s lousy influence while others will argue the personality in Miranda. In the end, neither of the two women was displayed as a loser, but both were presented as being successful in the career channels.
