Sample Nursing Paper on A literature review in response to clinical inquiry by the healthcare provider

A literature review is a written approach to examining published information on your proposed topic. The literature review creates the foundation and justification for your project, and it demonstrates your knowledge on the current state of the problem. Students often misinterpret the term literature review to mean a collection of source summaries, similar to annotations or article abstracts. While summarizing is an element of a literature review, you will want to approach this assignment as a comprehensive representation of your understanding of your topic, such as what has already been done or what has been found. Then, also using these sources, you can demonstrate the need for future research, specifically, your future research.

The literature review process is conducted in response to clinical inquiry by the healthcare provider and after formulation of the PICOT is complete. A Literature Review Matrix assists the researcher in completing an evaluation and critical appraisal process of pertinent studies in support of the topic. A template is provided below for you to complete, which is according to Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2019).

Between 7-10 research articles on the chosen project topic are required for the matrix, both qualitative and quantitative, as necessary in the review process. The matrix should only include the studies addressing your PICOT statement for the purpose of synthesis in the final paper (Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt, 2019).

You will submit a draft of the Literature Review Matrix at the end of Module 8 for review and feedback, prior to inclusion of the final copy in the Written Literature Review.

You will submit the final version of the Literature Review Matrix with the Written Literature Review.

Draft: Submit to the Assignment box by midnight at the end of Module 8. If the draft is not submitted at that time, it will not be reviewed with feedback.

Final Copy: Submit to the Assignment box by midnight at the end of Module 10 as an Appendix in the Written Literature Review assignment 4.
