Social responsibility is part of ethics of business, and both promote sustainability. Business relationships are built on a good reputation and mutual trust. Indeed, staying in business requires adhering to ethical standards and social responsibility. Social responsibility deals with business conduct concerning social values. In an organization, social responsibility involves paying attention to the business’s impact on the society and the environment. It is meant to achieve balance between economic growth and the welfare of the society. Social responsibility is part of ethics of business and both promote sustainability. Maintenance of social responsibility in an organization ensures that the integrity of the society and environmental sustainability are kept at balance. It is an organization’s legal obligation to maximize its positive impact while minimizing the negative impact on the society.

According to Drucker, integrity is essential to management. Drucker believes that management is drawn upon the knowledge of humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, and ethics. Chapter ten is in line with Druker’s vision of management as a liberal art because it also describes the establishment of ethical culture in organizations. It also describes ethical standards as a managerial responsibility in making ethical decisions.

Drucker also believes that organizations should take social responsibilities that are profitable to the firm. His assertion is in line with chapter ten, which which encourages engagement of firms in social activities with an economic gain for them. Moreover, chapter ten is in line with Druker’s management as a liberal art because it encourages environmental sustainability for the development of the company.

There are various aspects of management as a liberal art in chapter 10 of the book. The aspects include designing and articulation of social policy as a form of exercising social responsibility. The social policy entails the responsibilities of the firm to employees, consumers, communities, and environmentalists. Another aspect is maintenance of ethical business and the establishment of an ethical culture. Chapter 10 describes ethical standards as a managerial responsibility in the establishment of ethical business.
