Sample Social Work and Human Services Paper on Virtual Field Visit

The assignment requires that you write a paper and post a discussion. Visit the online meeting of an ongoing support group, self-help group or psycho-educational group. This can be a zoom meeting or phone meeting. Make sure you choose a meeting that is open and for which there is no fee.
Carefully observe the group facilitation and dynamics of all persons present. Write up your observations and analysis of the group operation in terms of the setting, group processes, stages of development, organization, etc.
Briefly interview the facilitator if possible. This may not be possible as this is an online format, but at least try.
Describe the type of group and give some background on the history of how the group was developed. This may require some research on the particular group or the organization if the group is part of a larger organization. Include in your description, the purpose of the group, how often they meet, how they recruit their members, do the members attend voluntarily or involuntarily or both, role and participation of the facilitator, role and participation of the group members.
Give your assessment of the group based on what you have learned in this class.
Summarize your paper and post a discussion.
Review the posts of your classmates and comment on what you have learned about human service agencies from the discussion. Your discussion should be 2 paragraphs at the least.
