Enterprise architecture is mainly build up by information expertise. In the past, the adopted IT infrastructure by Johnson and Johnson has not been successful. This is because it failed to successfully respond to the business needs.

Moreover, it did not reinforce the qualities and the industry environment fundamental to the corporation. Today, all the institutions are permeated by information systems at all levels (Saha, 2014). It is worth noting that all the business appliances do not contribute to the same data centre. Escalations in complexities was not indispensable exponential. The corporation faced post integrations.  This called for effectual planning.

This created more problems within the institution. This triggered massive divisions between the commercial and technical units of the company. The company resulted to recalling a majority of its products. The Company was forced to close down industrial unit to bring it up to centralized standards.

Enterprise architecture includes systems of tools and methods that are necessary in designing and re-designing a business enterprise (Bernus, Nemes & Schmidt, 2003). Effective enterprise architecture leads to realization of trade values and agility in a holistsic framework. Johnsons & Johnsons concealed information on the complication caused to patient by the company’s artificial hip as well as the organization’s contact lenses. It has been hard upgrading the department. The unit is cannot be changed without influencing the functionality of the other departments.

Bernard (2012) argued that mission, goals and culture enterprise is central to implementing the Enterprise Architecture. Despite its failures, Johnson & Johnson adopted a strategic framework that would push it towards its success. This is critical in ensuring that the stakeholders understand the scope, nature and the effects of the alterations. The alterations offer a step-by-step procedure critical for the operationalization of the company. This goes a long way in combating competition threats.

The company established a collaboration culture between the pharmaceutical and consumer brands. This is significant in the development and introduction of products in the souk. Allowing different unit to execute their mandate freely triggered a sense of entrepreneurship. Every unit maximizes on its resources to respond to the rising market opportunities.
